The first Iron Man 2 trailer has been released and looks sensational. It begins with Tony Stark (actor Robert Downey, Jr. as Iron Man) in front of some type of congressional hearing being pressured into releasing his Iron Man suit to the US Government. Trailer footage suggests that they have retained the dark humour and political undertones present in the first Iron Man movie.
Tony Stark resists the Government pressure and declares: “I did you a big favour, I have successfully privatized world peace”.
There's a great sequence with Mickey Rourke’s villainous Ivan Vanko character (Whiplash) cutting up Stark's racing car with some type of electrical whip and Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) in a skin tight outfit that leaves little to the imagination. Gwyneth Paltrow returns as Pepper Potts (Tony Stark's assistant) and Don Cheadle (Col. James Rhodes) appears in his own Iron Man suit (he replaces Terrance Stamp from the first film).
Again directed by Jon Favreau, Iron Man 2 is out next year. Watch the trailer below or view a higher resolution version on Apple's website here.
