Mickey Rourke to play Ironman 2 villain

mickeyHot from his success in Darren Aronofsky's The Wrestler, Mickey Rourke is now in talks to star in Ironman 2 as the new villain alongside Robert Downey Jr’s. Tony Stark character.

Variety reports he will play Tony Stark's Russian alter ego, a heavily tattooed bruiser working in the arms trade who battles Iron Man in his own nuclear-powered armoured suit. Rumours suggest the villain is likely to be Ironman’s comic book nemesis Crimson Dynamo.

Rourke is presently in the running for a best actor Golden Globe for his performance in The Wrestler.

The original Iron Man grossed over $600 million worldwide and the sequel, Ironman 2, is due out in 2010.
