I'm a huge Highlander fan, but the way the movies and the series ended.... It left with no closure, and never maximised it's full potential. I do think the whole thing should be redone and maybe even a little retooled. Granted the first movie was great, and it would seem that Christopher Lambert as Connor MacLeod would be irreplaceable. But for people like me who felt as if they were left hanging in many places. The story should be remade, the franchise should be remade, and all the blanks should be filled. For me , someone who wants to see Highlander go on and the franchise remade, you have to start from the beginning. P.S. I'm open to a remake if they make it a little more gritty and dark and ensure that the fight sequences are strong and realistic. My friends and I have seen it over 100 times both in the theatre (original release, and repertory), and on video. Removing the second and third installments from my memory, the fourth one with Adrian Paul and Christopher lambert, was great, and more of a proper sequel to the original. I haven't seen the last one with Adrian Paul, but heard it sucked. I'm cautiously excited about this new franchise. If they do it right, and find the perfect cast, it could work. Look how the new 'Batman' franchise has worked out. I'm willing to give it a chance. Better than watching it die, with not even a whimper. You have to admit there was a lot of crap peformances and effects in the first one (by the supporting cast). People please Highlander 1 should be left alone because it gave birth to the whole Immortals seeking the prize and christopher lambert and sean connery gave the audience something we will always remember throughout history, the bond between them created the HIGHLANDER movie and it was great BUT THEN THE MADE 2 the quickening, OUCH, it just didnt give any answers and went pair shaped then 3 came out and it kind of made more sense. 3 should of been 2. You need to sit back, think hard because the next 2 movies after THE SOURCE has got to shed light on Immortals, where they came from, why are they here, and what is THE PRIZE cos since the first movie we still dont really know and its got to be epic if you want the HIGHLANDER followers to appreciate it and wal out the cinemas with relief and smiles and wow.
