I’ve long been a big fan of the British author John Wyndham, most famous for The Day of the Triffids (1951), a tale of aggressive plants that roam the Earth after almost everyone has been struck blind by what appears to be a botched military experiment. He wrote some of my favourite science fiction novels, including The Kraken Wakes (1953), The Chrysalids (1955),The Midwich Cuckoos (1957) and Trouble with Lichen (1960).
Not much has been written about his life, so I was surprised to come across clips from a BBC documentary that has passed me by until now. Titled John Wyndham: The invisible man of science fiction, the documentary is a great insight into his work and life. I couldn’t find a place to buy the documentary online, including the BBC, but there are 6 clips available on YouTube. You'll find the links below.
John Wyndham was born in 1903 and died March 11, 1969. For an overview of his work you can visit John Wyndham's Wikipedia entry here.
